Black Belt World’s biggest event of the year – The Festival – is fast approaching! The Festival is open only to Black Belt World members and its family schools worldwide.
The Festival will be held Friday April 15 – Saturday April 16, 2011 at Knightdale High School.
The 101st National Black Belt Exam will be on April 15, 2011.
The Black Belt World Tournament will be on April 16, 2011. This is a friendly competition designed to satisfy everyone, from novice to master. Everyone is a winner at the Black Belt World Tournament!
Students are required to participate in two of these three categories: 1. Forms: Current level or lower. 2. Breaking: Current level or lower. Black Belt World will supply boards. 3. Sparring: White Belts will spar against a kicking shield. All others will practice Level Two sparring. You must bring your own safety gear. Phoenix Division Competition (3 – 6 years old) 1. Forms: Optional, not required. 2. Breaking: Current level or lower. Black Belt World will supply boards. 3. Sparring: Free sparring against a kicking shield. Special Division Competition 1. Creative Form: Open to all belts. Two minute maximum length. 2. Weapons: Jhangbong, Eadanbong, or Geom may be used. Open to all belts. Two minute maximum length. 3. Olympic Style Sparring: Open to Yellow Belt or higher. Two minute rounds, 30 second interval. 4. Pairs Poomsae: Open to all belts. Any two people may form a pair. 5. Family Poomsae: Open to all belts. Family members must consist of parents and children. 6. Power Breaking Hand: Open to Red Belt and higher. Must supply own boards. 7. Power Breaking Foot: Open to Green Belt and higher. Must supply own boards. 8. All-around Breaking: Open to Green Belt and higher. Three to five stations; must have techniques on the ground AND in the air. Must supply own boards. 9. Demo Teams: Minimum five team members. Ten minute time limit. Teams must provide their own music. 10. Tag Teams: Open to 1st Dan and higher. Three members per team. Olympic style rules. Match duration is five minutes or 15 points, whichever comes first.
